Rugby Theatre
Get in on the act

Join Rugby Theatre and play your part in our successful productions.

Want to join? You don’t have to be an actor or actress to join Rugby Theatre, we have many other Groups that perform essential duties to help keep our theatre running smoothly and new members are always welcome. Here is a brief guide to the groups:

Wardrobe Group
Costumes are an important part of any production. They help to complete the illusion we are trying to create. It is essential for the enjoyment of the audience that the actors look and feel like the characters they are portraying.

Lighting Group
Members of the Lighting Group are involved in activities such as design, rigging and operating of the lighting, special effects for stage shows; preparation, setting up and projection of films; maintenance, testing and modifications to the mains & low voltage electrical systems and equipment within the three buildings.

This group aims to ensure that all the audience needs are met, from showing people to their seats to selling programmes and supplying refreshments. They also help to keep the theatre clean and tidy. The Box Office team also come under this group – they are the first point of contact with the theatre for the audience and sell tickets, give advice about future shows, times and prices.

Drama Group
Open auditions are held for all shows – no shows are pre-cast. Auditions are advertised on the website and at Central Hall. Members of this group are also encouraged to join other groups when they are not involved in a show giving you the advantage of getting you involved more quickly, getting your face known and getting to know and work with other theatre members.

Make Up Group
A friendly bunch who help out as much or as little as they need to depending on the show. They may be involved in both hair and make up for each show. You don’t need to be a hairdresser or a make up artist to join – just be willing to help and learn.
