Characters and playing ages are as follows:

Abbess: 40s
Sister Berthe: 30s – 50s
Sister Margarette: 30s – 50s
Sister Sophia: 30s – 50s
Nuns – at least 12 of them, aged 25+
Franz – Butler: 40-60
Frau Schmidt – Housekeeper: 40-60
Baroness Elsa Schraeder - 35 – 45
Max Detweiler: 40-55
Herr Zeller: 45-65
Baron Elberfeld: 50-65
Admiral von Schreiber: 45-60

Ensemble of neighbours and friends, servants, novices, postulants, contestants at Festival Concert etc

Requirements

2pm - Mother Abbess, Sister Berthe, Sister Margaretta, Sister Sophia and all nuns. (register from 1.30pm)

4pm - Max Detweiler, Elsa Schraeder (Baroness); Franz (Butler); Frau Schmidt (housekeeper); Herr Zeller; Baron Elberfeld; Admiral von Schreiber; Neighbours, Nazis, contestants at Festival Concert.

Max
Voice: Low tenor/baritone. Character singing to suit his personality.
Song: ‘No way to stop it’ from start to bar 45 –all parts.

Elsa
Voice: Mezzo with character to suit her personality.
Song: ‘No way to stop it’ from start to bar 45 –all parts.

Mother Abbess
Voice: Top Soprano, able to hold harmonies. Experience of Choral Singing an advantage. Song: ‘Climb every Mountain’ from start to bar 42. May be asked to do final 12 bars.

All Nuns: Variety of ages. Voices: Mix Soprano, Mezzo and Alto. Choral singing experience a bonus but not essential but MUST be strong harmony singers.

All actors must be 17+
