World War II family drama in which a grieving widower living in a small village takes in a nine-year-old evacuee from London.


We will meet at Rugby Theatre Bar (Central Hall) between 7.30pm and 7.50pm and walk over to the Baptist Church which is on Regent Street, Rugby.

Auditions for the child parts will be held on a later date which is yet to be decided.
If you are interested in one of the child parts, then please email the director and he will keep a record and let you know when the auditions will be.


Mrs Beech – Female, Acting age 30+
This part of ‘Will’s Mother’ requires a strong actress as she is prone to aggressive outbursts and psychotic episodes. Will probably double up with the part of: Mrs Annie Hartridge

Billeting Officer– Female, Acting age 20+
Will probably double up with the part of: Miss Thorne

Charlie Ruddles– Male, Acting age 50+
Will probably double up with the following parts: David Hartridge, Vicar, Mr Stelton

Dr Little – Male, Acting age 50+
Will probably double up with the part of: Ticket collector

Mrs Fletcher – Female, Acting age 40+
Will probably double up with the parts of: Glad and Social Worker

Mr Millar – Male, Acting age 40+
Will probably double up with ‘ARP Warden’

Miss Millar – Female, Acting age 16+
Will probably double up with London ensemble and others.

Note: Depending on who auditions for the play some of the ‘doubled up’ parts may be spread out to multiple people to create an ‘ensemble’ of: Villagers, Londoners and Hospital Patients/Workers/Policeman.
